Evening all,

A quick background as to how we ended up at the Mercure Tankersley Manor Hotel, we got married in February last year and booked our honeymoon to Cuba for the September, due to Thomas Cook going under they could no longer fly us from our chosen airport so we changed the holiday to the Dominican Republic, due Covid and that holiday was then also cancelled. Come September and things were looking up slightly and we were allowed to travel within the UK… which is where Tankersley Manor comes in.

My mother in law was having Mila for the weekend for us so we booked a couple of nights away. It was fairly easy to find and once we arrived there were Covid signs up and everyone was wearing their masks. We checked in and went to find out room, we actually ended up down at the spa - we had gone one too many doors over so they kindly pointed us in the right direction.

Upon arriving at our room we soon realised that this wasn’t the standard room we had booked but in fact we had been upgraded, although we are unsure whether that was due to my husbands gold account on booking or that we had mentioned we were on our ‘honeymoon’ but whatever the reason we were very much pleased as we had a lounge area separate from the bedroom, which was great for us to have a couple of drinks and play trivial pursuit on the Friday evening.

The room was spacious and more than big enough for the two of us. The bathroom had a bath and a separate shower which was great. Everything was clean and tidy and we enjoyed every minute of being there.

The pool was still open for use but you had to book a 30 minute slot, my husband had phoned a couple of weeks earlier to book us in for the morning, you were told to come down with your swimwear already on with your towel/robe to avoid using the changing rooms and minimise contact with others.

The restaurant and bar was fairly quiet while we were there, we didn’t eat in the restaurant but we did have a couple of drinks. You keep your mask on unless you are sat at a table with your drink or food.

The staff were all very friendly and super helpful, they were all more than happy to answer any queries or help in any way they could. I’d recommend staying there if you’re looking for a hotel in the area.

I do have videos of our time there as well as photos, but my husband hasn’t got around to editing the video for YouTube yet but if he ever gets around to sorting that I will insert a link here so you guys can see.
